The Type 2 is a middle class car, it is based on the same basis as the Type 1 is available in two versions of the Type 2 is quickly replaced in 1902 by type 2B.

- The type 2B (2) (e) series will be produced in 8862 copies.
One of a large range of Fiats using the fixed-head side-valve mono bloc 50-series engine in various cylinder capacities, the Tipo 2 was made in both car and commercial forms, the latter with a straight frame instead of the in swept and up swept type of touring models. Other differences between the two types were the detachable disc wheels (also used on the 1916-18 army staff cars), the twin rear tires and the retention of the older radiator style after the cars had gone to the vintage pear shape during 1915.
The commercial T2 remained in production throughout the First World War, huge numbers being supplied to the Allied armies. It was still cataloged in 1923, though the flood of war surplus trucks such as this one had reduced new vehicle sales to a trickle.
This 1917 example is to standard mechanical specification with a four-cylinder 2,815cc engine, magneto ignition, four-speed gearbox, shaft and bevel drive and semi-elliptic suspension front and rear. The fuel feed has been changed from an exhaust pressure system to a gravity fed one. It carries 12 seater six-door open wagoner bodywork with a cape cart hood. Headlamps are electric but both the scuttle-mounted side lamps and the tail lamp are oil fed. A large klaxon was mounted to the right of the driver.
